Be aware of your paint you use -- Use latex paint instead of oil-based paint. Oil-based paint is highly toxic, and its manufacturing produces nasty pollutants. Dispose of paint as hazardous waste, or with latex paint you can let it evaporate outside for one year. Then, you can dispose of it with the rest of your trash. Don't clean your paintbrushes outside, because this can contaminate groundwater; clean them in a sink. Instead of trashing excess paint, you can donate it to a school or to someone else who needs to use it. being an artist myself i have to check on all the paint i use and i'm very into reading about what the pain i used could do to the enviornment.

As you can see global warming=bad. Polluting=global warming. Therefore polluting must be bad.
So if you pollute we heat up and frogs die.

LOCAL CATHOLICS- When you ever think of catholics, you probably never think of environmentalists, and probably never think of them out there planting trees and telling every one on problems concerning the environment. Usually when you think of Catholics, you'll probably think pro-life, help the poor kinda people. Actually, though, Catholics do a lot for are environment, such as planting gardens, lowering there consumption use, and a lot more. Also, even in Manila, Philippines a group of 50 priests and laypeople have started riding bikes to there destinations instead of using gas guzzling cars. One last thing catholics are doing locally to help the environment, is in the local catholic schools, there are teachers who are teaching there students on the effective ways to help the enviroment(A.K.A Mr. Banks), which well help in the future fight against the evils on anti-environmentalism

Poor Froggies.

Many of you may have wondered why our blog is actually named The Froggy Bloggy. Well as most people know the environment may be down spiralling into a huge crisis. Since the rain forrests have been slightly heating up, the moisture in the rain forest is evaporating as a faster rate. Also as most of we know frogs need a moist land to live and breed in. Many exotic frogs are slowly dissapearing at a faster rate then ever before. Many of you may not think its a big deal but tink of all the poor little froggies and wonder if taking that car ride is necessary. Think about all those froggies. Soon we will have a video up proviing our point.

Church Teaching about the Eviornment

The church doesn't say that much on the enviornment but what it does say is to protect what God has given us and to not use it all up. one of the most important things to know about the enviornment is that it adaped to what is going on around it, and that once everything is gone its gone.
"Man has loved the world, but as an end in itself and not as transparent to God ... The natural dependence of man upon the world was intended to be transformed constantly into communication with God in whom is all life ... When we see the world as an end in itself, everything becomes itself a value and consequently loses all value, because only in God is found the meaning (value) of everything, and the world is meaningful only when it is a 'sacrament' of God's presence ... The world of nature, cut off from the source of life, is a dying world."
(For the Life of the World, SVS Press, New York, 1973.)

RCS Moving Green - Zach

Here at RCS, we tend to accumulate a large sum of garbage. While having a lot of trash isn't necessarily a bad thing, it means that more and more trees are being cut down. This is why I want to start a recycling program at our school. I did some intense research, and noticed that schools all around the country have recycling programs. Having a program like this will not only help save money for our school, but will save forests and the animals that live in them. Other ways that we can reduce our amount of paper used are:
  • Use double-sided photocopies to reduce paper consumption.
  • Use overheads, marker boards, or blackboards instead of paper flipcharts in class.
  • Purchase classroom/office supplies in value packs.

Some ways that other schools exicute their mission is to make recycling a game. They have a different objective every day of the week. Here is an example:

  • Monday is Reduction Day- Review habits, and recognize how you can reduce.
  • Tuesday is Compost Day- Make something that can help the environment; Birdhouse.
  • Wednesday is Zero Garbage Day- Class with the least amount of garbage gets a prize.
  • Thursday is Conservation Day- Come to school in an alternative way that is eco-friendly.
  • Friday is Reuse or Exchange Day- Take old papers that you have already used, and use it to take notes on the back.
  • Each class gets an area of the campus, and at the end of the year, whoever has the cleanest area wins a grand prize!
